The carrier ingredients of SteviJa
Because of its great sweetening power (in diluted solution about 200 to 350 times sweeter than sugar), stevia is made easy to dose with carrier ingredients. Below you can read which carrier ingredients SteviJa uses for this.
Some of these carrier ingredients have an E number. E numbers are not by definition bad or chemical substances. Steviol glycosides, the sweetener in our products, for example also have an E number (E960a). This means that the European Union has checked and approved the substance as an additive.
The carrier ingredients of SteviJa
Inulin
Obtained from chicory, a root that grows in the Netherlands. After harvesting it is processed into a fine white powder with a mildly sweet, creamy taste. Gives Zoetpoeder its structure.
Erythritol
A sugar alcohol (polyol) from plant sugars such as those in fruit and fermented foods. Fermented, crystallised and purified. Gives Kristal its crystal form.
Sodium bicarbonate
Also known as baking soda or bicarbonate of soda. Together with tartaric acid it makes the Zoetjes dissolve easily.
Tartaric acid
Obtained from grapes and wine. In combination with sodium bicarbonate it makes the Zoetjes dissolve quickly.
Magnesium stearate
A salt that acts as an emulsifier and ensures that all the ingredients of the Zoetjes hold together.
Glycerine
Consists of glycerol and water. Glycerol is obtained from vegetable fat or oil and occurs in the body. It dissolves the stevia extract in Liquid Natural and the syrups and gives a smooth taste.
Leucine
An essential amino acid that the body does not produce itself. It is produced in plants and micro-organisms.
