Dutch apple pie

Ingredients

The recipe for a delicious classic apple pie made with the Dutch Goudrenet apple!

Filling

  • 150 grams sultanas
  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • 800 grams tart apples (e.g. Goudrenet), sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 75 grams coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 30 grams SteviJa Kristal®
  • 2 tablespoons custard powder
  • 1 tablespoon rolled oats

Pastry
  • 200 grams flour
  • 40 grams SteviJa Kristal®
  • 150 grams butter
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon SteviJa Baksoda
  • 2 tablespoons hot milk
  • Springform tin (24 cm, greased)

Preparation

Filling
Soak the sultanas in the orange juice for about 30 minutes.

Pastry
Preheat the oven to 180 °C.

Mix the flour, Kristal, butter, the egg and the salt. Dissolve the Baksoda in the milk and add it to the pastry mixture. Knead the mixture into a smooth dough. Set aside one fifth of the dough and roll out the rest into a circle. Use it to line the springform tin.

Drain the sultanas in a sieve and mix them in a bowl with the rest of the ingredients for the filling. Spoon the filling onto the pastry in the springform tin.

Roll out the reserved dough and cut it into long strips about 1 cm wide. Arrange the strips of dough in a lattice pattern on top of the filling. Bake the pie for 45 minutes until light brown and cooked through, on the rack slightly below the middle of the oven. Leave the pie to cool and serve it lukewarm, with a dollop of whipped cream if you like. Delicious with a fresh cup of coffee or tea!
